Wacky Springtime

IMG_2096 copyIMG_2041 copy
It’s finally springtime in Missouri … well at least it is today. It was in the 80s earlier this week and then snowing on Friday. So, we don’t know how long this weather is going to last. When we do get a burst of nice weather the dogs have eaten every second of it up.  Well, J & I have soaked up using our new grill a lot too… I’m not complaining!

Cheers!

I have the most photogenic pups. Ever.

Yes, I may be a bit obsessed with my pups. But who can blame me when the pups look like mine? Okay, okay. I know, I need to bring it down a notch.
This weekend J and I are headed to St. Louis to see his family and then my Grandma. Tiny is going to make her debut at his family’s house. Keep your fingers crossed that it goes well. **

Morning Ritual

Photo on 2013-02-18 at 07.08 #2
Each morning about 6am, Tiny wakes up and is ready to start playing. Now, Maggie and I are not the best in the morning. We like to sleep late. Let me clarify when I say sleeping late. For instance, when I have to be at work at 10am then I get out of bed usually about 9:10. I always get ready, look decent, and make it on time.

Now at 6am Maggie and I are getting up with the pup. We head into the family room, turn on the news, and start checking emails and favorite blogs. This morning; however, both dogs felt the need to lay on top of me… literally.

It’s the small things like this moment that melt my heart and make have two crazy mutts worth it.

Happy Thursday!

Cheers,

Mere

January 9 – Happy Birthday

Meet Tiny Dodger! The newest addition to mine and J’s family.

Tiny got her name from the fact that she dodges traffic like a pro. So here I was driving home from my hometown back to Springfield on Wednesday I spot this little pup jumping through the tall grass in between two lanes of traffic along the highway. Knowing that I just could not leave her, I turned around. Picture this: me running along the side of a highway in muddy grass chasing a dog. It was pretty hilarious for drivers passing by.

Tiny is absolute skin and bones. I have to say J and I were thrilled when she took her first bite, which was after she watched Maggie take a bite. The vet thinks that she is about 7-8 weeks old and she currently weighs 3.7 pounds. Crazy!

Not knowing when her actually birthday is – I’ve decided that January 9 (the day I spotted her on the highway) is her birthday.  She has hit the jackpot with J and I!

Cheers!

Maggie – so grownup

Maggie will be four in a few months and it’s hard to believe. I honestly couldn’t imagine a life without her or the past four years with another dog. Maggie came into my life at a time of transition. I was going to embark living on my own for the first time – no parents and no roommates. At the time I learned that I was going to be all on my own, my Mom’s coworker discovered a pregnant stray on her farm. The mom had a litter of puppies. All looked very different. Knowing that she couldn’t keep all of these puppies, she began to search for new homes. I drove over 2 hours to see the two females out of the group. The one that stuck out and the cutest with her black fluffy hair was Maggie.

That was it. I was hooked. Now, I’m a dog mom.

Four years have flown by. We’ve lived in three different homes. By ourselves and with a roommate including a chihuahua. Maggie has a personality all her own and she no longer is a black fluffy girl, now she is a long, blonde hair dog that loves to sleep on my feet throughout the night and cuddle with my pillow in the early morning hours.

It really has been a wonderful four years and I can’t wait to see what the next phase will be for her and for me.
